This hotel by the river Limmat serves food direct from its own farm
Situated directly beside the river Limmat, the Hotel Storchen adroitly manages to bring savoir-vivre and ecological sustainability together under one roof. The hotel successfully implements the farm-to-table concept thanks to collaboration with its own agricultural suppliers – so the menus and drinks lists feature home-made farm products from Terreni alla Maggia (Ticino), breakfast eggs come from a farm in Schlattgut ob Herrliberg, and organic beef originates from the Jura mountains.
Thanks to the hotel’s collaboration with myclimate, guests can make voluntary donations to support various sustainability projects. Each day’s food waste is processed in the biotransformation plant to generate green energy. The hotel saves over CHF 20,000 in energy costs each year by reducing the laundering of bedlinen and towels. All electricity supplied to the premises consists of 100 percent ecopower. The Hotel Storchen has been certified to ISO 14001 since 2011.
