Fully conscious of its history, the Belvedere takes great care of its heritage in every respect. When investments are made to expand or develop the hotel and the resort, special attention is paid to ensure that construction and renovation work is carried out on a sustainable basis. For instance: all heat is now supplied from renewable energy sources.

As a Swiss holiday resort that aims to be known for its particular focus on sustainability, Scuol is very strongly committed to these efforts. And as a pioneer in this endeavour, the Hotel Belvedere supports smaller businesses by sharing its own experience-based values with them. The Hotel Belvedere numbers among the largest employers in Lower Engadine, and it can offer year-round positions to 90% of its employees. Development of young talents is also bearing fruit for the hotel – it has been able to fill selected executive vacancies (even including some management positions) from its own ranks.

Whenever possible, the Belvedere works with local tradespeople and suppliers. Energy consumption per overnight stay is approximately CHF 4.50 – well below the Swiss average, which was almost CHF 15.00 in 2020. Annual energy expenditure in the hotel is reduced thanks to high-calibre technologies and structural measures: these enable the Belvedere to compensate for over 1,000 tonnes of CO2 each year – and the savings are used to support a variety of climate protection projects.
