Hauser Hotel St. Moritz 

Regional focus throughout – from menus to room furnishings

All the different aspects of sustainability are combined under one roof at the Hauser in St. Moritz. Now managed by the fourth generation of the same family, this hotel in the heart of St. Moritz has been honoured with the ibex fairstay Platinum Label.

Furniture in the hotel’s bedrooms is made of native ‘moon wood’ originating exclusively from Engadine stone pines and larches. «Moon wood» comes from trees felled before the new moon, which gives the wood its unique character. This, in turn, positively influences inner calm, harmony and health – so guests enjoy better sleep. The hotel has introduced its own label – the ‘Etichetta’ – to identify the various regional products used throughout the premises.

«Hauser Nusstorten» (or walnut gateau) is the house speciality, prepared with walnuts from eastern Switzerland. The Hauser purchases more than 30 percent of its products from small or medium-sized enterprises in the surrounding region, opting for organically certified products where possible.

The heat recovery plant supplies most of the hot water for the hotel; energy comes from waste heat given off by cooling and refrigeration units as well as exhaust air from the kitchens and bakery. Tapwater is sold to benefit good causes: since 2016, an average of over CHF 10,000 has been donated to support various charitable projects. Beneficiaries have already included the Baan Doi Orphanage, the Water Survival Box and the Laos Skilldream project.
